On March 18th Anthea McIntyre MEP, the representative for the West Midlands, came to speak at a lunch at Leek Cricket Club organised by Rushton and Heaton Branch. Given the interest in the forthcoming EU referendum, this event was a sell out and over 80 guests were keen to hear what she had to say. They were not disappointed as she gave an interesting account of the workings and the finances in Brussels, and then answered many questions both pro and anti-Europe. She recognised that this difficult but very important vote was in many cases a conflict between head and heart and emphasised that she was not there to persuade us to vote one way or another but to provide facts to help us make up our minds. We were grateful for her time in coming to talk to us, and everyone there, whether they favoured staying in of leaving the EU, were reassured that in Anthea McIntyre we have an excellent, informed and dedicated representative.
